Brian Dettmer carves old books showing off bits of pages, words and images as he creates a unique sculpture.
And then there is this,
a coffee table book that opens up to reveal real working lamp. I love the image of the Victorian paper lamp popping up from the book it feels magical and romantic, rather Mary Poppinsesque.
Both of these pieces play on the nature of books. Every book is a door into a new world, a new universe, a new way of thinking and new way of looking. These artists have taken that concept and revealed the interiors showing a surprise that you may not have expected.
