an article from yesterday’s New York Times is below. It makes me wonder how our “Voices from a Changing Middle East” festival is going to be perceived. Especially if we do some of the more controversial plays we are looking at.
I don’t understand this lack of questioning that seems to be happening in the American Jewish community. We are a people of questions – how can “we” just paint Israel as good and not look at the problems – even the Israelis look at the problems. It’s very sad that people who are doing things that are traditionally looked at as Jewish (questioning, civil rights, justice, etc) are being called “self-hating Jews.”
