what i hope will be a weekly roundup of things happening which bring excitement.
Tonight: The Blow at the Black Cat. Seen her a couple of times, always entertaining. Plus, I’m curious to hear the opening bands which I don’t yet know much about: Saturday Looks Good to Me and Karl Blau.
Saturday: Arena Stage Costume Sale. I walked out last year with a huge bag filled with cheap vintage. Can’t wait for more! Go early, bring a big wad of cash and fight fear of crowds.
Sunday: Matinee of The Arabian Nights produced by Constellation Theatre Company at Source. $10 Theater Artist tickets available all weekend.
Tuesday: My two homes away from home come together. J on Demand and the Washington Jewish Lit Fest come to the Black Cat for a book reading and panel discussion of “THE HEEBIE-JEEBIES AT CBGB’S” w/ author Steven Lee Beeber and Mark Jenkins, co-author of “Dance of Days: Two Decades of Punk in the Nation’s Captial,” Steve Kiviat, founder of the early ’80s D.C. zine “Thrillseeker” and Lauren Strauss, a D.C.-area academic . $5 entrance fee – comes with first drink!
