EXTREME EXCHANGE X-PLAYS

DC EDITION #5: ADOPT A CANDIDATE

Monday, November 12th, 2007
Woolly Mammoth Theater Rehearsal Hall

Extreme Exchange returns with its innovative X-Plays series, staging national issues from multiple viewpoints. Edition #5 features newly created short plays that support and expand the views of a Presidential candidate. X-Plays can be serious, irreverent, provocative or silly, but they’re always surprising. Each edition is followed by a facilitated discussion with audience and artists.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

We are looking for people interested in expanding their theatrical skills, developing creative and thought-provoking theater, working with others, and contributing to an open dialogue about current social and political issues. INTERESTED? Email us at extremeexchange@gmail.com by October 15th.

For Edition #5, the candidate will be chosen by the teams of artists from a short list of randomly selections. Teams are encouraged to use their play to truly adopt their candidate’s position, even if that candidate’s opinions are vastly different from their own!

WRITERS AND DIRECTORS – Pre-made teams of a writer and a director are particularly desired. If you are a writer or director without a team member, email us and we will connect you with other artists to create a team! Send us an email stating your interest, and your availability for the dates below.

ACTORS – We would love to hear from you. Let us know that you’re interested and available for the performance, and if you are not connected to a team we will connect you with writers and directors.

October 15th: Commitment time.

By this date, we hope to have heard from you! We will compile a list of teams and possible team-members, and connect any remaining playwrights with interested directors.

October 20th: Team Assignments.

On this date, team members will get their final assignment for Edition #5. Many of us will gather in person for this event, but if you cannot attend, your assignment will be sent to you via email. Team are then sent home to work their magic and begin writing and rehearsing their plays.

Saturday night, November 3rd: Extreme Extravaganza!

Take a break from rehearsals and come to a party! We are hosting a fundrasing party and all participants in the X-Plays get in for free!

Monday night, November 5th: First Glimpse

All team members will meet at a central location for a relaxed first read-through of the plays. This allows directors and writers to ask for constructive feedback if they so choose.

Sunday afternoon/evening, November 11th: Tech rehearsal.

Monday night, November 12th: DC Edition #5!

Keep up with our latest adventures, read about the X-200 short play contest and all other details on the Extreme Exchange blog: www.extremeexchange.wordpress.com
