tonight: eXtreme eXchange

edition #5 happens tonight. I’m really happy with this line up. I watched the pieces last night and they are a great mixture of humor, theatricality,  drama and thought provoking politics. many thanks to our great artists and to the very dedicated team of producers. every time we do this we get nervous that we won’t have the time, that it won’t come together but it does and as always that’s the miracle of theater.  The amount of press we’ve gotten this go ’round has also been amazing, from the story in the Post’s backstage column to the Examiner choosing us as the top pick over Shining City at Studio to today’s express (and check out the second picture). Hopefully we’ll have a full and excited house. Unfortunately, I will not be there. I have to be at the J for a play reading. One I am excited about, great cast, live music but none the less I will be waiting for it to end so I can get downtown to at least celebrate post-show with the eXchangers.

eXtreme eXchange is committed to exploring the issues that are on our minds but not on many of our stages.

Theatre artists “Adopt” a presidential candidate:
A year before the 2008 presidential election and a couple months before the primaries, the race for the White House is heating up. Local theatre artists team up and take on the platform of an ’08 contender, creating an evening of new short plays in just under 3 weeks.

The X-plays can be serious, irreverent, provocative or silly, but they’re always surprising.

The performance will be followed by a lively discussion among audience and artists exploring the issues raised by the plays. All political orientations welcome and encouraged to attend.
