The most exciting thing this weekend will be getting my bathroom finished. I look forward to once again getting clean in my own house. Not to mention use the toilet in private (we still don’t have doors). It is supposed to be finished by Saturday. fingers crossed. But I just heard they are starting on my bedroom windows Monday. I’ll be glad when this whole thing is finished.
Oh, and today brings good news from the City Paper: “…flinty, intelligent play, and Forum pulls it off with a clear-eyed rigor thats impressive and welcome.” And the reviewer obviously read my dramaturgy notes so good for him!
Tonight: Ari’s class is presenting their final project a history of Theater J that I will be turning next month into an on-line archive: “In These Fervid Years: An On-Line History of An American-Jewish Theater Company.” I’ll let you know when it goes up. I am being good and not going to the goodbye party I was invited to, since I’ve learned goodbye parties lead to me getting very drunk. Instead I will be heading home to sit at my desk and type type type.
Tomorrow: A tea at 2 reading of a new play called Forgiveness. I’m really curious to hear this play read. Reading it was uncomfortable and yet fascinating. It asks very difficult questions and despite the horror of the subject (incest and rape) it is actually a play that is very filled with love. I’m curious to see how our audience will respond. Tomorrow night a birthday party for a fellow forumite.
Saturday: Rorschach is having a yard sale. As you may have heard they have lost use of the space at Casa (their home of the past 6 years). They are still weighing the options for the rest of the season but in the meantime they have a lot of flotsam and jetsam around and it’s all on sale. So go by sometime between 10 am and 4 pm. Support them by helping both get rid of stuff and giving them money to aid their next move. More info here. Saturday night, tis the season for parties. I have three I’d like to make it to. So tis the season for trying to figure out my schedule so I can spend more time having fun at the parties then I spend worrying about traveling place to place or actually traveling place to place.
Sunday: matinée of Antigone at H Street. Followed by an OpenForum post show discussion and then by a rehearsal for Iphigenia 2.0.

As a part of Forum’s new OpenForum program we are excited to present a reading of Charles Mee’s Iphigenia 2.0 this Monday, December 17. This reading is a part of a series that expands on our current production of ANTIGONE, and along with post show discussions help to create an inclusive theatrical experience.
The play by Euripides, set in the world today, in which a great imperial power steps into the world to go to war–taking an action so wrong that it sets the empire on the road to complete self-destruction. Proving, as Agamemnon himself says on the brink of the Trojan war, “we see from the histories of empires that none will last forever and all are brought down finally not by others but by themselves.”

Bouncing Ball Theatrical Productions presents a concert performance of Titus, The Musical.
Featuring original DC cast members Jason Stiles, Marybeth Fritzky, and

Titus, the Musical is a punk rock adaptation of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus. Conceived as part concert and part theatre, the show is violent, energetic, and very very loud.
