in a post a couple of weeks ago I said that there was good news that I couldn’t talk about yet. Well today the cat is out of the bag. Round House Theatre has invited Forum to be in residence for the next two years at their Silver Spring Space.
It wasn’t an easy decision as making the move meant leaving the H Street Playhouse which really feels like home. But Round House’s offer really gives Forum a chance to grow. In addition to the theater space they are providing us with office space, they are providing front of house and box office staff and putting our name out there in a way we are unable to do on our own.
Blake Robison, Round House’s Producing Artistic Director had this to say about the partnership:
“Forum is doing the most provocative and accomplished work of any young company in the DC area. They take risks, break barriers, and move an audience beyond its initial comfort zone. That’s what we want in our Silver Spring black box. Part of Round House’s mission is to provide a home for area artists and companies that will benefit from our institutional resources. I hope to see Forum Theatre flourish in our space, as it continues to stake its claim on the cultural landscape. It’ll be a win-win for both companies and a treat for local audiences.”
